Praying on the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a virtuous act and there are so many rewards that are gained by sending our salutations and blessings on him.
These rewards include:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever sends salah upon me once, Allah (SWT) will send salah upon him tenfold, and will erase ten sins from him, and will raise him ten degrees in status. (Sunan an-Nasa’i 1297)

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Allah (SWT) has angels who travel around on Earth conveying to me the Salams of my Ummah.'” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 1282)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If any one of you greets me, Allah returns my soul to me and I respond to the greeting. (Sunan Abi Dawud 2041 (Hasan by Al-Albani))

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) heard a person supplicating during prayer. He did not mention the greatness of Allah, nor did he invoke blessings on the Prophet (ﷺ).
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He made haste.
He then called him and said either to him or to any other person: If any of you prays, he should mention the exaltation of his Lord in the beginning and praise Him; he should then invoke blessings on the Prophet (ﷺ); thereafter he should supplicate Allah for anything he wishes. ( Sunan Abi Dawud 1481 (Sahih by Al Albani))

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “No group gather in a sitting in which they do not remember Allah, nor sent Salat upon their Prophet, except it will be a source of remorse for them. If He wills, He will punish them, and if He wills, He will forgive them.”( Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3380)

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:“May the man before whom I am mentioned – and he does not send Salat upon me – be humiliated. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3545 (Sahih by Al Albani))
