Protesting against Muslim persecution – Is it working?

When it comes to protesting – about Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq, Burma or elsewhere:

In February 2003 there was an organised international protest against the imminent war in Iraq. It is estimated that 600 cities took part across 60 countries and social movement researchers have described the 15th February protest as “the largest protest event in human history.” Estimates place the number of people who protested at somewhere between 6 and 30 million people. Did it make the slightest difference to anything? No. They still invaded based on lies and unfounded allegations, committed untold war crimes and slaughtered innocent men, women and children – all under the banner of a “war on terror” – when in reality – they are the real terrorists.

I assure you that walking up and down, shouting like football hooligans, chanting catchy little slogans is not going to change a thing. If you want to change the situation of the ummah, get the porn off your PC, the movies off your laptop, the music off your phone, learn your religion and worship Allah the way He has commanded. Implement the sunnah and then call others to this correct way and encourage them to do the same.

Our hearts are so full of football, movies and women that we wonder why there’s no room for Qur’an, Sunnah and Salaf.

Do not think it’s cool to attend protests and then believe that you’re really doing something for the people of Palestine or anywhere else for that matter. You are protesting in front of the ones carrying out the oppression and honestly, I can assure you, they don’t care one bit that you’re upset.

Democracy is a distorted illusion. Just take a look at the “democracy” going on in England at the moment.

You’re not the only angry one. Some people choose to wake up at night and raise their hands to The Almighty who is Just and has power over all things. They don’t need to go and scream in front of the shayateen to bring “justice”.

Be the change that you want to see. Don’t shout and scream about it while you ignore it on yourself.

Ultimately I remind us of the statement of Allah:

“Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practice their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islam). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)”  (Quran 24:55)

So (1) believing and (2) doing righteous deeds are the 2 conditions for attaining succession i.e. authority and security in the land.

  1. Believing – that is, with the correct aqeedah – free of shirk and misguidance.
  2. Righteous deeds – with pure Tawheed and according to the Sunnah.

Is it therefore surprising that the Ummah is in this sorry state when the majority of us cannot satisfy the two conditions above?

May Allah give us hearts that submit to Him and have Taqwa of Him.
