Loyalty
Being Loyal to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ
When you get committed to someone, you are required to stay loyal to them no matter what. If it comes to love, it must be fullest for them, if it comes to respect, all of it must be given to them, if it comes to obeying them, you must obey them because you have made a commitment, if it comes to relying on anyone, it should be only them you must rely on. This is how relationships work in this world, don’t they? But what about your relationship with Allah and His messenger ﷺ ? Now, if you do not follow all of which is mentioned above, it is known as you’ll be deemed disloyal. Let’s look at this ayah: “O People who Believe! Do not betray Allah and His Noble Messenger.” (Surah Al’ Anfal: 27) You committed yourself to Allah and Prophet S.A.W the moment you accepted Islam/were born as a Muslim. You recite the kalimah, right? Do you know its meaning?
Let’s repeat the kalimah, ponder on it’s meaning. We say, “We bear witness that there is no god but Allah.” Here we make a commitment that we will worship only Allah, rely only on Allah, seek help only from Allah, never associate partners with Allah and never give someone or something else the position of Allah in our life. Now, the next part of kalimah says, “And Mohammad S.A.W is the messenger of Allah.” Here we declare that we take him S.A.W as our prophet & we’ll follow his teachings and Sunnah because we believe that he S.A.W is our final messenger. You are aware of the gist of this ayah now, so, check yourself. Are you a loyal Muslim or are you a disloyal servant of Allah?
Do you follow the commandments of Allah? Do you follow the sunnah? Do you only love Allah the most or the love of this world wins over it? Do you commit shirk by asking for help and everything from some dead or alive human/idols or do you loyally ask for things from Allah alone? Do you wear amulets that are forbidden for protection or do you recite Ayat ul kursi with unwavering tawakkul? Do you strive to learn the a hadiths and try to live your life as defined in them or do you live to please others instead of Allah? However, see how merciful is Allah! Think of a soldier betraying his nation, think of a person cheating on their spouse. Are they forgiven easily for their unfaithfulness? Never. Yet Allah forgives you for your sins even when they reach the sky. SubhanAllah! Turn to Allah, repent now if you were disloyal to Him in the past and He will shower His mercy on you since He is the most merciful. Being loyal to Allah will help you sail your boats smoothly. Try it to believe it.
