Fasting in the Month of Sha’ban

The Month of Shaaban is a month where many are unaware of its virtues. It’s a month in which our deeds throughout the year will be presented to Allah the All-Mighty. So what better way to spend our time in this month than by doing good deeds and staying away from sin and transgression.
Aisha reported: …. I did not see the Prophet complete an entire month of fasting except for Ramadan, and I did not see him complete more voluntary fasts than in the month of Sha’ban. (Al-Bukhārī 1868, Muslim 1156)
Usama ibn Zaid reports that he asked Prophet Muhammad : “Messenger of Allah, I have seen you fasting in the month of Shaban so frequently that I have never seen you fasting in any other month.” Prophet Muhammad replied: “That (Shaban) is a month between Rajab and Ramadan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds (of human beings) is presented before the Lord of the universe, so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am in a state of fasting.” (Al-Nasa’i)
May Allah accept our fasting during this virtuous month.
