The Prophet [saw] said: “Whoever enters the marketplace and says:
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٍ
La ilaha illal lahu wahdahu la sharika lahu
lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu
yuhyee wa yumeetu
wa huwal hayyu la yamootu
bi yadi hil khair,
wa huwa ‘ala kulli shai’in Qadeer
“There is none worthy of worship besides Allah. He is all by Himself. He has no partner. His is the Kingdom, to Him is all praise. He gives and takes life. He is all by Himself. He will not die. In His hands is all good and He has control (power) over all things”.
Then Allah will write one million good deeds for him/her, and will wipe away one million of his/her bad deeds, and will raise him/her one million levels and will build a home for him/her in Paradise.”
(Tirmidhi, Ibn Maja) [Sahih al-Jami” #6231]
Question:
I read a Hadith that says: “Whoever enters a market says: Laa ilaaha illAllah wahdahu laa sjareeka lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyi wa yumeetu wa huwa hayyu laa yamoot, bi yadihil khayr, wahuwa alaa kulli shay’in qaderr’ {there is nothing worthy of worship but Allah, He is alone without partner, to Him belongs dominion and praise, he causes life and death and He is the Living and does not die. In His Hand is all the good, and He is over all things competent.} Allah will write for him a million good deeds, erase a million of his bad deeds and raise him a million levels.” (at-Tirmidhi, classed as Hasan by al-Albani) –
My question is, is this Hadith and duas above authentic and if it is, isn’t it one of the most amazing virtuous duas we could ever read? Does the market mean in todays time a shopping centre or any single shop we visit? If we read this daily can we expect these amazing duas?
Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
Thank you for your question.
The above mentioned narration and its supplication are authentic and reliable.
Yes, indeed this is from the great bounties of Allah. Little effort and amazing rewards. To remember the Lord at a place where people rarely do, is an outstanding act. Hence, the great rewards.
Market place in modern times, include shopping malls, grocery and department stores.
There is no limit in the treasures of the Almighty. If one visits the shopping centres everyday, they will In-sha Allah receive these amazing rewards daily, upon reciting the dhikr.
And Allah knows best.
