Destiny & Faith on Allah

Written by: Samia Israr Ahmed

Whenever we heard the word Faith and destiny many questions arise in our mind. Such as,

  • Is it possible that our destiny will changed?
  • If destiny is already written by Allah so why we pray to change it?
  • Is faith changed the destiny?
  • What is the relation between faith and destiny?

For reducing confusions in our mind or for better indulgent to find   answer these questions, we first need to understand Faith and Destiny.

What is faith in Islam?

The basis of any religion is faith. Faith is a most important aspect of any reliogion.without faith, a man is like a chair without its legs and drowned into a sea of hopelessness.

It is belief in one God or Tawheed. This is expressed in the primary Kalimah (Word) of Islam as: “Laa ilaaha illallaah”, meaning: “There is no one worthy of worship but Allah.”

This beautiful phrase is the foundation of Islam. It is the expression of this belief, which differentiates a true Muslim from an unbeliever, or one who comrades others with God in His Divinity.

This phrase differentiate between believers and non-believers. As a person, whose faith on Allah and who trust on Allah plan by spending his life on the basis of truth and reality, whose facing difficulties but always gratify to Allah become a person who is getting success  at deen and dunya.on the other hand , a person who refuse to  believe in one God have ultimately put their self in depression, ignominy and in sadness or grief.

In the   Quran, the term ‘faith’ means ‘to consider something to be sure and reliable’ without doubting.Faith can only be given by God, and means above all, that a human being acknowledge Allah’s greatness and superiority, his own position as God’s servant, who owes Him gratitude for His mercy towards man.

Quranic Verses on Faith:

The Quran clearly convicts those who call upon God only when in need and forget Him afterwards. Surat 39:8 says, for example, when a person in pain or facing any difficulties so he attached to Allah and pray him to forgive his sins and when he found comfort and happiness in their life so they forget his Lord: Say, ‘Enjoy thy disbelief for a little while: verily thou art (one) of the Companions of the Fire!’.

In the same way, Quran condemn hypocrites (Munafiq), who admit to be a good Muslim for the sake of enjoying its freedom.

Destiny or Qadr:

On the contrary, we all believe that density is already written by Allah and if it’s already written so why we pray to change it.As stated in Quran, Allah had written all human beings destiny before their births. All circumstances, situations, incidents are preplanned by Allah.

In the light of Quran and Hadith:

Surah Al-Hadid (The Chapter of Iron) verse 22 states:

“No disaster comes to pass for on the earth or in yourselves yet it is engraved in the Book of Decrees (Al Lawh Al Mahfooz) before we bring it into reality. Verily, that is simple for Allah.”

And Prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has stated in a hadith:

“Allah recorded the declarations of creation fifty thousand years before He made the sky and the earth.

Then the same question arise in our mind that  whether we accepted our life, our situation and our sadness or deprived or we do sabar on it.Well, these all questions are valid and confusing at the same time but I tried to answer it as according to my knowledge which I was getting by reading on it.Destiny is a source which closed us to Allah pak and make our faith more stronger on Allah. As a Muslim, we believe that Allah plans are best for us and what he do for  us is just to make us a good Muslim. On the Day of Judgment, we get rewards what we have done in the world and taken from it.In addition, Allah gifted his obediency and prayers to Muslim ummah.Allah Rab-ul-izzat keep so much strength and power in prayers. Through it, Muslims have capability to change their life situation into more comfort and happiness by praying to Allah.Sometime ,we pray and not getting answer in a way which we want or sometime our situation are still same. But, as a Muslims, we could not be sad or depressed. Instead of that, we try to find Allah wisdom on a particular situation and try to learn from it.As per my believe “A good Muslim is one who never be hopeless or pessimistic at all their life situations and always thankful to Allah Pak.”
