Are You Blocked? Check Right Now!

You were in love with someone, you used to talk to them every day, you did things to please them, and you abstained from things that he/she didn’t like.. but then one day you got bored and realised the world is better if you just ignore that person.. you cheated because you found pleasure somewhere else and without the boundaries he/she had set for you. And when they found out.. you lost them, forever!

Or maybe you stopped talking to them everyday and stopped showing love the way you used to do..

Now you want to re-connect, but you can not. They’ve ‘blocked’ you out from all the sources of connection you had with them. You’ll understand the next part better if anything like this has ever happened to you…

The same can happen in your relationship with your Allah. He created you, you loved him.. you prayed to him everyday.. abstained from what he forbade you to do. But then you got bored and found out the world is more beautiful if you just ignore him and the boundaries he told you to be in. Now you have lost him and he has blocked you.

Several times has Allah(swt) mentioned a ‘Muhur’ (مہر)  in The Quran. What is the Muhur? To me, it is the same ‘blocking’. You can not get back to him. You can not re-connect with him. You can not understand anything about him, you can not reply to the conversation anymore.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

“The hearts are four types: polished as shiny as the radiating lamp, a sealed heart with a knot tied around its seal, a heart that is turned upside down and a wrapped heart. As for the polished heart, it is the heart of the believer and the lamp is the light of faith. The sealed heart is the heart of the disbeliever. The heart that is turned upside down is the heart of the pure hypocrite, because he had knowledge but denied it. As for the wrapped heart, it is a heart that contains belief and hypocrisy. The example of faith in this heart, is the example of the herb that is sustained by pure water. The example of hypocrisy in it, is the example of an ulcer that thrives on puss and blood. Whichever of the two substances has the upper hand, it will have the upper hand of that heart.” [Ahmad]

So if Allah if going to look to our hearts, wouldn’t you want your heart to be in the perfect condition? How much effort do we put into making our house, our personal presentation beautiful when we are expecting our fellow Muslims to visit? They are only the creations of Allah , surely we must exert much more effort in our presentation to Allah . We are unaware of what moment our souls will be taken from us forever, so we must make sure the house of our heart is spotless at all times.

Please be afraid, none of the blocks can be compared to Allah (swt)’s blocks. If he blocks you out, there’ll be almost nothing that you’ll be able to do. Don’t let him block you. Talk to him daily, he’s Ghafoor-ur-Rahim, he’s Rehman-Al Rahim! I’m hundred percent sure he’ll forgive most of your smaller sins even if you try to explain and apologise daily!

May Allah show us the right path! Ameen.
